Care and Therapy for Numbness & Tingling

Many people occasionally notice a prickling sensation in their hands, feet, arms, and legs. The prickling sensation they’re feeling is referred to as numbness and tingling. Numbness and tingling could be caused by something as simple as standing or sitting in the same position for a long time, crossing your legs, or laying on your arm while sleeping. However, numbness and tingling may also be a result of an injury. An injured nerve or pinched nerve is commonly caused by pressure on the nerve. Treating numbness and tingling caused by pressure on a nerve depends on the source of the pressure. Once the source is discovered we can help relieve the pressure!

Chiropractic Care for
Numbness & Tingling

Numbness and tingling can be the result of a pinched nerve. A pinched nerve is typically caused by bone spurs, a bulging disc, a herniated disc, or a misaligned joint pressing on the nerve. Numbness and tingling can remain where the nerve is compressed or travel along the entire path of a pinched nerve. Chiropractic treatment can help relieve the pressure being placed on the nerve by correcting your body’s structural alignment.

Poor posture and tight muscles can also create pressure on nerves, resulting in numbness and tingling. Someone with tight scalene muscles, a group of muscles in the neck, may experience numbness and tingling in their hands. Poor posture, specifically a forward neck position is a common cause of the scalene muscles tightening up. The forward neck position is frequently experienced while driving, using a smart phone or sitting at a desk.  Massage therapy can relax the muscles, reducing any pressure that is causing numbness and tingling.

Reiki for
Numbness & Tingling

Reiki is a Japanese technique that is used to treat physical and mental trauma by channeling healing energy wherever the body has contained negativity and blocked the flow of life’s energy force. Reiki provides awareness to the location of negative energy caused by stress, anxiety, or even physical pain, allowing the body to release the blocked energy. Reiki is helpful and highly recommended for resolving any numbness and tingling caused by tension and stress.
