How To Treat the Cause of Pain, Not Just The Symptoms

Chiropractors don’t just crack your back. Chiropractic care has the power to reduce your pain, improve your mood, and provide your body the opportunity it needs to heal itself. Some studies have even found that chiropractic care can reduce pain more effectively than medications. Most medications prescribed for pain management provide temporary relief and come with negative side effects. Rather than reducing pain symptoms, a chiropractor's goal is to correct the cause of your pain. Chiropractors study the body's nervous system which controls every movement the body makes. The spine is made up of small bones that surround the spinal cord to protect the nerves that allow the brain to communicate with the rest of the body. When this communication is interrupted so is your health. Chiropractic adjustments allow a disrupted nervous system to regain communications and therefore resume in the body's self-healing process. Chiropractic care may also be beneficial if you experience pain related to Sciatica, Lower back pain, Neck pain, Headaches, Ear infections, Frozen shoulder syndrome, Scoliosis, and much more!

Chiropractors treat the causes of pain, not the symptoms
Chiropractic care can’t cure everything. In many cases, though, it can reverse the cause of some of your pain. If your neck is out of whack, taking a painkiller will treat the symptoms – but seeing a chiropractor might just correct the cause of the pain. They look specifically to the nervous system of the body. This system controls everything, from reflexive responses like breathing to every movement we make. Since nerves run up the spine and radiate out through the body, chiropractors believe that spine health is everything.

5 Signs Your Heart Chakra is Weak or Blocked

Within each of us are seven major chakras. If you missed the first three chakras click to learn about the first chakra, the second chakra, and the third chakra. The fourth chakra is called Anahata, also known as the heart chakra, which is located in the center of the chest near your heart. The Anahata chakra holds the energy related to love, respect, compassion, joy and the sense of belonging. Feelings of grief, clinginess, and loneliness or a general lack of self-love can cause your heart chakra to weaken or become blocked. Reiki helps balance the flow of energy in the body and can be utilized to release the blocked energy of a chakra. Learn five signs that your fourth chakra is weak or blocked below.

Five Signs Your Fourth Chakra is Weak

1. You are often guarded and closed and never or rarely allow yourself to open up to others and be authentic for fear of being hurt or rejected.

2. You are unable to let a situation rest because it didn’t go your way, until you have assigned fault to all you see as responsible. You assign negative motive to everyone whose actions impact you, judging their actions as intentional.

3. Your relationships are characterized by your tendency to be clingy and needy, anxious that your partner doesn’t need you as much as you need them.

4. Your expressions of love for another person are conditioned upon them conforming to your expectations of how they should be. As long as they do, all is well. As soon as they don’t, you get upset or offended and react with aggressive or passive aggressive moves to try to manipulate them back into behaving conforming to your expectations. You see a need to try to fix other people and often try to do so.

5. You experience any of the following physical symptoms on a frequent or chronic basis:  heart disorders, chest pain, asthma, allergies, pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema, breast lumps/cysts, circulation problems, tension/pain between the shoulder blades, shoulder, arm or hand problems or carpal tunnel.

Reiki provides deep relaxation and healing by balancing the flow of energy in the body. At Your Sanctuary For Healing we have a passion for holistic health and fitness to share with you. Click to learn more about our Reiki Services.

The Difference Between Shiatsu And Swedish Massage

Swedish or Shiatsu? What's The Difference?

Our bodies can under go a lot of stress in our lives, and this stress lives in our muscles. It can either build up to eventually be too much and we start to feel pain, or it can be triggered by pulling, straining, or injuring your muscles.

At this point you are probably thinking about going to get a massage to help. There are two types of massage that are the most well known: Shiatsu, and Swedish Massage.

Origins
Swedish massage did not originate in Sweden and wasn't invented by a Swede, despite its name. In Sweden and the rest of Europe, the term "classic massage" is used instead. Although the exact origin of Swedish massage is unknown, the term may have stemmed from Swedish Movement System, which was a foundation of physical education and medicine in the early 1800s in Sweden. In the last half of the 19th century, the name was transposed to Swedish Massage System, according to Robert Noah Calvert, founder and CEO of "Massage" magazine. Although shiatsu massage -- literally meaning "finger pressure" -- originated in Japan, seitai shiatsu is one of the more common modalities used in the United States. The seitai method, which means "whole body," was developed after World War II by various practitioners, according to Dr. Kuniake Imoto. It focuses on the healing the body as a whole rather than just certain parts.

Structural Anatomy Vs. Meridians
While Swedish massage focuses on stroking muscles, connective tissues and joints, shiatsu massage uses the traditional Chinese acupuncture meridians as a guide to address pain and illnesses. Swedish massage practitioners learn to massage based on traditional human anatomy, identifying the origin and insertion of muscles and understanding how joints move. Shiatsu practitioners study the meridians of the entire body and compress specific points of the body, such as the back shu points, which run along the sides of the spine. These points connect to every meridian in the body, serving as the starting point for shiatsu bodywork, according to acupuncturist and shiatsu therapist Thomas Crooks.
